In a recent statement, Sanaullah addressed the ongoing debate surrounding the former Prime Minister's well-being while in custody. He emphasized that any deliberate delay in providing medical treatment would be considered a grave act of criminal negligence.
Sanaullah, a Senator and the Prime Minister's Political Affairs Advisor, took to the Senate floor to clarify the situation. He asserted that the opposition's attempts to politicize Khan's eye problem were misguided. The Senator revealed that the necessary medical facts had already been presented to the Supreme Court, dispelling any claims of a four-month medical neglect.
Providing a comprehensive timeline, Sanaullah detailed Khan's medical journey. He mentioned that the former PM first reported an eye issue in the first week of January. The jail doctor promptly responded by administering eye drops for three to four days. Further examinations and tests were conducted on January 16th and 19th, respectively, followed by an injection on January 24th. Sanaullah assured the public that these details are officially documented and offered to share the records with the opposition.
The Senator further explained that Khan had been regularly examined by jail doctors every other day and had also been seen by external doctors on 25 occasions. Interestingly, during a December 2nd meeting with his sister and a December 9th medical board review, Khan did not report any eye problems. Sanaullah stressed that whenever Khan raised medical concerns, treatment was provided immediately.
Sanaullah refuted the notion of a prolonged delay, attributing it to political motives. He mentioned that no formal request had been made to the Supreme Court for admission to a private hospital. The government, he added, had assured that Khan could be examined by any doctor of his choice.
